Sentosa Island - Virtual Sentosa

ROLE: CCO

The pandemic put an abrupt halt to the travel industry. Border closures and government-imposed stay-at-home notices meant that the island resort Sentosa went from hosting millions of visitors each year to zero.

Without a reopening date on the horizon, Sentosa wanted to maintain its visibility and its relevance until it could welcome people back in the real world. Riding the cultural moment of Animal Crossing - an entire game built around travelling to islands - we were the first brand to hijack the game and recreated all 15 million sqf of the island with no details spared. From idea inception to going live it only took us only 12 days.

Suddenly an island off the coast a bigger island became THE attraction to visit. Even journalists from Conde Nast were suddenly queueing up and we gave them virtual tours - something that would have never happened in real life.

Various virtual give aways were created that visitors could keep and take with them.

Every day the creative team had to weed the gardens, prep the beds to then welcome visitors to the island. Every day tours were given.

We even hosted a wedding on the island.
